Untraced collects no personal data. All scanning and analysis happens entirely on your device. Nothing is ever transmitted to us or any third party.

2. How the App Works

Untraced scans your device locally to identify which apps have been granted location, microphone, and camera permissions. For each app, Untraced assesses permission type and access mode and provides a qualified risk indicator based on a curated on-device profile database.

All scanning, analysis, and storage of results occurs entirely on your device and never leaves it. Untraced has no server-side component and no user accounts.

3. Permissions We Request

Untraced requests the following Android permissions to provide its core functionality:

QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES Required to scan installed apps and their declared permissions. This data is processed locally on your device and never transmitted.

RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED Required to reschedule background scans after your device restarts.

POST_NOTIFICATIONS Required to notify you when a background scan detects permission changes.

REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS Requested to ensure background scans run reliably without being interrupted by Android battery management.

INTERNET Required to fetch updated risk database information from our public GitHub repository. This request contains no personally identifiable information and transmits no data about you or your device.

ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE Required to check network availability before attempting to fetch risk database updates.

4. What Untraced Scans

Untraced audits three categories of sensitive permissions across all apps installed on your device:

All permission data is read locally from Android's PackageManager API and is never transmitted off your device.

5. Risk Database

Untraced periodically fetches an updated risk reference database from a publicly accessible file hosted on GitHub. This fetch does not transmit any information about you or your device. The request contains no personally identifiable information and is used solely to keep the app's assessment profiles current.

6. Data Storage

All scan results, permission history, and app settings are stored locally on your device using Android's built-in database storage. This data never leaves your device and is deleted when you uninstall the App or use the Clear Scan History feature within the App.

7. Pro Features and Purchases

Untraced offers an optional Pro tier available through the Google Play Store. Purchase and subscription management is handled entirely by Google Play. We do not receive or store any payment information. For information on how Google handles purchase data, please refer to Google's Privacy Policy.

8. Children's Privacy

Untraced does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. The App does not collect personal information from any users regardless of age.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the Last Updated date at the top of this policy. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
